Every 2nd week we highlight the work of one individual customiser and share their best custom diecast work for you to enjoy.

It’s time to shine a light on some extraordinary talent within the custom Hot Wheels community. It’s time for…

THE CUSTOMISER SPOTLIGHT

Today it gives me great pleasure to introduce you to a hella-talented customiser who knows more about dish than Jenny Craig and stances his rides like a fat girl in Uggs. Hellasweet indeed. His name is Joel but you probably already know him through Instagram as @Diecast_dxb  – and if I would just shut up for a second maybe we can learn a little more about the man behind these awesome creations…

Can You Tell Us A Little Something About Yourself?

The name’s Joel Paz, 38 and a graphic designer doing print magazine and interactive magazine ipad app edition. I am an expat worker based in Dubai for 9 years now where I am happily married with two amazing daughters.  I’m Filipino and originally from Manila.

How long have you been customising hotwheels and diecast cars?

I’ve been into fujimi and tamiya 1/24 scale cars for 15yrs when i was back home in the Philippines, but when i worked overseas, i found it difficult to source model kits, enamel paints and proper tamiya paint so i ventured into customizing hotwheels when i accidentally saw a post on IG. Found it interesting, so i got hooked immediately. Been doing hotwheels customs for 2 years now.

What is your favourite casting from hotwheels?

Favorites would be the hako, 240z, the rx7, any porsche, any land rover specially the defender, and now that the escort came up, you can add that to the list.

What sort of customs do you like doing the most? (JDM right?)

Sadly, i wouldnt really want to be tagged as a jdm addict, but when i got into the hotwheels game, jdms was the sought after castings at that time. But im more comfortable into 3 categories, jdm, eurotuners ( bmws and porsches) plus 4×4 rigs. You have to check out my earlier posts to see my rigs 🙂

Do you have a favourite? Why?

Favorites? That would be old school rigs and cars, hako, 240z, escort, you get the idea

Where and How can people see more of your work?

The only place where i post my work is on IG – Check out his feed and follow Joel here –> @diecast_dxb

I would like to thank Joel for taking time out of his day to let us into his custom diecast world. Personally, I’m a huge fan of Joel’s work and have been since I started customising earlier this year. Thanks again for your time today, and for keeping us all inspired with your fantastic custom diecast work.

Remember to follow Joel on Instagram so you can see more of his work  – links are above somewhere. (there are two, you can find one at least 😉 )
