Shining the Light on Extraordinary Talent in the 1/64 Custom Diecast Community…
It’s that time again – a collective favourite of not just myself but for all our readers – at least that’s what you guys keep telling me
That’s right, it’s time to shine the spotlight on one exceptional customizer in our ever growing community and an opportunity to not just ogle all the amazing creations but also to learn a little more about the customiser behind those afore mentioned creations. Today it is my genuine pleasure to introduce a fellow Australian customiser who quite frankly needs no introduction. I have watched this young man go from strength to strength and with his amazing skillset it seems he is only limited by his imagination, which you will soon see is crazy awesome on a quiet day!

The Customiser Spotlight Featuring @cthulhu_customs
Some people know him by his real name, Jade Rawson, others know him by an instagram handle they can’t quite pronounce. The rest just know him by his work, work so impressive he was recently named as one of the winners of the 2019 Matchbox custom contest and will soon be customising a brand new Subaru SVX before Matchbox officially release it early next year. Go KE-TE-HOO-LAHOO CUSTOMS… CHOO LE HOO CUSTOMS…?!?! Bloody hell…. JADE. (Yep, that’s much easier)
So without further ado, let’s sit down with Mr Rawson and learn a little more about the man behind the amazing customs you are about to drool over…
Can you tell me a little about yourself so I may introduce you properly…
How long have you been customising hotwheels and diecast cars?
I’ve been customising for just over two years now, but collecting for at least 12 years.
How or What Got You Interested in Hot Wheels in the First Place?
I got into Hotwheels as a kid, out in the back yard with my brother & sister. The house my parents bought used to have an above ground swimming pool in the far corner of the yard, and what remain was a large patch of leveled sand, ready, waiting.
Where (in the world) do you call home?
Victoria, Australia (or as Alex would say, ‘Mexico because he lives south of the border’ )
What is your favourite casting from Hot Wheels?
I have quite a few favorite castings, probably too many to mention. JDM would be the bulk of my collection.
What sort of customs do you like doing the most?
Do you have a favourite? Why? A favorite custom?
Where and How can people see more of your work?
Jade can be found on Instagram under the handle @cthulhu_customs and is frequently sharing his amazing work on various Facebook groups including the best one of all – the MCH community
You can also see more of his work RIGHT HERE 🙂 Enjoy (I know I bloody well did!)
1:64 Custom Creations by Jade Rawson
Before we begin I need to reprimand Jade because whilst he was kind enough to send me a great selection of his amazing custom work (which you will see below) he failed to send me a single pic of what I reckon is the most dope ‘Little Truck That Could’ I have ever seen… wouldn’t you agree?
*See Jade, I can ask them now what they think because I went and found the pics myself…GAWD the things one has to do for a good story these days 😉
As I am sure you will agree, the level of creativity in these builds is off the chart! Jade is not only a highly skilled customiser, he is also insanely creative and when you add the fact that he’s a genuinely top bloke to the mix you end up with a true customising triple threat…. in the best possible way of course. Thanks again to Jade for sharing his work and a little more about himself with the MCH community.
Now if you aren’t already, go check out his amazing work on Instagram and give him a follow while you’re at it.
