Welcome to the seventh installment of
My Your Custom Hotwheels – Week 7, April 27th 2016.
Every 2 weeks I showcase the finest customs I find around Facebook and Instagram, collating them all into one article so you can get your fortnightly fix of custom hot wheels and diecast car porn all in one place. This isn’t about My Custom Hotwheels, it’s about Yours ?
*Remember to hashtag #MyCustomHotwheels for a chance to be featured
Your Custom Hot Wheels Week 7
OK I have some explaining and/or apologising to do because despite my commitment to bring you the best custom Hot Wheels every 2 weeks I have failed to deliver for exactly 2 months now! I have a lot of great excuses (specifically a Hot Wheels Decal Store) but considering you’ve already waited 2 months the last thing you need now is a short novel as I carry on about …>STFU Alex. Exactly.
Today You Can Expect…
… a combination of insane customs and basic wheel swaps, with the focus being on the simple things – because sometimes the simple things [in life] really are the best. I also wanted to tone it down a notch because everyone is going berserk with off the hook customs and bad ass builds that are crazier than a bag of cats.
The ‘crazier than a bag of cats’ customs are still present because I had 2 months worth of custom Hot Wheels creations to look through – but note that the focus is on the smaller scale builds and less insane creations.
We All Started At The Beginning
I think it’s also nice to bring things back to basics so that those new to the craft can stop feeling overwhelmed, because I remember when I first started I used to look at some of the customs being created and think ‘fuck me, I’m never going to be that good’ – a feeling not helped when the customs being shared (here and otherwise) keep getting more and more insane 😉
As usual these customs are in no particular order….well actually they are kinda in (reverse) alphabetical order because I have so many that if I don’t start from the top and work down I’ll lose track of what I have and haven’t added! (#firstworldproblems…in 1:64scale :D)
I encourage you to follow these guys (and girls!) on Instagram and get involved on our Facebook Group where you can find a lot of the non Instagram customisers sharing their awesome creations and breadth of knowledge on the subject of customizing hot wheels cars..
NOTE: 100% of today’s customs come from Instagram. I will follow this up with another Your Custom Hotwheels next week that will focus on Facebook and the many competitions that have been going on. You may also notice some of the same guys reappearing – a reminder to all to use that hashtag #mycustomhotwheels and get involved in our awesome Custom Community
Instagram’s Finest Customs – April 2016
Sean – @WitheredCustomz
I’m loving the chroma-Orange Datsun 510 and the 62 Chevy beds but Sean knows I’m a sucker for a bit of diorama action –
and considering this is a wheel-swap special what better way to celebrate than with an actual wheelswap in progress!?
Stunning attention to detail and …damnit I needs me some of them Muscle Machine Engine Bays 😀
56 Ford Looking Pretty (Rad) in Pink. Von Dutch Style of course
*You don’t NEED a Tin Foil hat to make customs this nice, but it probably helps.
Wonderful attention to detail – and great use of custom wheels by the one and only @78Toy4Dr
I don’t usually share half finished customs but the moment I saw this insane fusion of Salt-Shaker and Kool Kombi
I was instantly 1: Deeply enamored , and 2: Jealous that I didn’t think of it first!
A great example of a nice change of shoes and details – which are awesome, especially the three headlight number :p
Corey – @ripcitycuztoms
I’m not sure what Corey has been smoking but I want some!
This BMW X5 is definitely ready for the school run to the ghetto
YES!!! That is all I can say for I must now bow down to this Ricky Keybrain fellow.
The ‘first attempt’ rocket bunny on the 180sx is – in my personal opinion completely awesome and a sterling ‘first attempt’ indeed.
The 62 Chevy is cray cray and I LOVE the colour coded wheels. I think maybe Corey gave some of whatever he was smoking to Richard.
Share ya bastards!
Sean’s back? Oh great so you shared your stash with him too!!? Seems Sean made the most of it too…
crazy lighting effects really make this 62 Chevy POP
OK Stop everything! First of all, Corey you can keep your stuff, assuming you have any left after Sean went all star spangled banner on us!?
– I want whatever Jim’s been smoking because. DAYUMMMM!!
Oh and it seems someone’s been reading -and mastering – my deep dish wheel guides:
Redstar knows a love a little diorama action in the morning – and with a custom 620 pickup
complete with opening hood it really is a wonderful bit of diorama action indeed.
Ratchet girl with a clean as &#*! Honda NSX. Haven’t seen one this clean since Julie Jxn aka @ScaleTunedCustomz
– what is it with clean custom NSX’s – must be a chick thing 😉
*Respect seriously – we need to see more females taking up this most awesome of hobbies
@Ratchet_Girl again shows us that ‘Girl Power’ rules (OK)
Another example of effective wheel-swaps and photography. Ok granted its a full Martini Racing custom but with no interior and a wheel turned like that it’s clearly a WIP and a great example of the simple things combined with a good capture (it’s all in the angles baby – get down low and go go go)
Paul – @pdubrewer
I swear Paul has the cleanest customs on Instagram! Not sure what his secret is but I suspect
he’s got a team of Malaysian Hot Wheels employees down in his basement. Or something.
The detailing on this castrol racing Mini Cooper is off the hook!
The details you can see are freaking sahweeet – but it’s the details you can’t see that make this a truly exquisite build.
Custom cage, custom rolling chassis, custom bar, custom rocks and custom camera phone bitches!
yes I know it’s ‘just another General Lee’ but I thought the card art was impressive and used the current design from Mattel rather well.
Oh and opening bonnet. what?
‘This isn’t even a bloody custom Alex!?’ – and I’m glad you noticed because here we see the beauty of a mainline
captured in such a way to make it look even better than some customs I’ve seen – hell even some I’ve made!
Beautiful attention to detail – and that colour! I shall call it Aquamarine-spandex-ballet green
Seth – @mrsenctvt
“Why do they call him the master?” …Oh I see. Incredible detailing on this Ratsun Wagon 2.0.
It was finished, annnnnnnnd now it’s not. Typical customiser 😉
Ben – @Moss_Rods
Ben has quite the portfolio of beautiful customs. Here’s just a sample. Dope.
Rashdi – @mistadixster
The King of Spectraflame has done it again with this wild Datsun Wagon in Green & Gold… AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE!
Love the VW logo :p
Are You Freaking Kidding Me!!?! This Custom Bronco is Hellasweet and oh so badass!
Another example of detailing and wheelswapping –
with some slamming and shaving and hellasweetness thrown in for good measure of course 😉
The king of badass and the dopest customiser on Instagram created this beauty a while back…
But that doesn’t mean the new owner Sean @WitheredCustomz can’t share it again!
Another WIP that looks so tasty I couldn’t resist sharing it
Another example of simplicity at it’s finest. Gorgeous 356 made even more beautiful by the location and capture.
Details people! The levels of badassery are off the charts to be frank.
Beautiful two tone and wheelswap on this Kool Kombi. The truck in the background is a distraction however. BigTime
Wheel swap and paint – simple but effective. Oh and is that a 3 inch cannon I see poking out 😉
Barnyard find 356B complete with flat tyres and broken/cracked windshield. Brilliant!
As a lover of all things diorama may I be the first to say LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE!
The details are breathtaking and the final result is….WOW. Still can’t figure out what it is. Ford something something.
Datsun’ice pair of customs – exquisite in fact.
Nice custom. Nicer Diorama. Nicest Photo Edit!
Beautiful custom work from the Grizzly, highlighted through stunning photography and depth of field
[Toot Toot Chugga Chugga] BIG RED CAMARO
Incredible colours on this Gulf Racing Hako
Purple Cat? Hell yeah.
Stunning diorama and photography capture these Hondas doing their civic duty
This Altezza is CRAZY-AWESOME! Loving the wheels too. KA-CHOW!
Nice Short back and sides for this AE86 Corolla. Engine from a…breadbox I believe.
A mix of simplistic elegance and refined detail make these customs from cs_mods stand out like no one’s business
I know Bunny’s like to multiply at an alarming rate but this is getting ridiculous! 😉
That Kool Kombi Camper is Cray Cray! Awesome Cray Cray that is.
Soooooo SHINY! bloody hell.
“If I can’t FIND an Enzo Super Treasure Hunt then I’ll MAKE an Enzo Super Treasure Hunt” – Nice!
Chris – @78toy4dr
They see me rollin’ they ….can also be rollin’ on a set of custom wheels from @7eightoys
IstPix has some of the most detailed and lifelike diorama setups I have ever seen and when he recently caught Heisenberg going for a cook I just had to share it. It’s not for any reason other than it’s science bitch!
Simple detailing and lowered on custom medium dished wheels – great effort and a huge improvement! Nice one bro
I will leave you with a sneak peek of the Storm Trooper Combi Hauler VW Transporter Dark Slidin’ Storm Haulin’ Trooper-Wagen thingy-ma-bob that’s name is way too long and rather discombobulating…
Thanks for viewing – hope you find inspiration and/or motivation to help you on your own customising journey.
Diecast for Life! …yeah OK Alex, calm down – they’re just toy cars.
