Every 2nd week we highlight the work of one individual customiser and share their best custom diecast work for you to enjoy.
It’s time to shine a light on some extraordinary talent within the custom Hot Wheels community. It’s time for…
THE CUSTOMISER SPOTLIGHT
Today I am proud to introduce you to a customiser who’s work I have been admiring for quite some time now, namely because his customs are so well detailed and creatively constructed. But enough from me, allow me to introduce you to Sharon Tarshish.
Can You Tell Us A Little Something About Yourself?
My name is Sharon Tarshish and I am 38 and living in Israel (with it’s daily issues) I work as pro bike mechanic for the last 20 years and am happily married + daughter (6 years old) and expacting for another baby in 4 months ( some one to share my hobby with). Hobbys: Mountain bike riding + biketrials (doing demo trial shows all around israel – I am well known in Israel for my riding skills) Owner of few classic cars (well, classic to me): Morris mini minor Golf mk 1 And today- ford escort mk 2 ( painted and engine restored by your humble servant)
How Did You Become Involved With Hot Wheels and Customising Diecast Cars?
I have been collecting hot wheels and few MBX for the last 12 years but only after seeing the Mad Max Road Fury Movie did I become interested in customizing.
“I saw that chrome interceptor (called razor cola) and decided to give it a go. So I bought myself a Dremel and started”
(Author edit: I’m just going to put it out there and say “Holy shit Sharon, I think you’re a natural!”)
I guess I have been customising cars for around 6 months and since than i counted nearly 60 customized diecast cars.
What Sort of Customs do You Like Doing the Most?
I think i like the rusty old ratted trucks the most. I want my custom cars to look more like used or daily ride cars. But sometimes i do clean cars (not as perfect as i wish). I think air brush would be a nice upgrade if you want some clean-flashy cars, and i don’t have airbrush… Yet.
Also wheels are big problem to me. The reason is lack of donor cars. In israel you can’t find cheap rubber wheeled cars (real riders), and mainline hot wheels cost is high as 3.5$. So this hobby is not as cheap as i wanted it to be. My favorite castings are European cars such as the VW Caddy (which i’v turned into a golf gti) and the ford escort (Hotwheels please make VW Golf MK1 casting). Also crazy for old American vans , trucks , and estate cars.
Where Can People See More of Your Work?
I hardly show my work at loacal areas since i can’t see it would be interesting the majority of people. I allways see my hobby as somthing strange to a 38 years guy to do. Hence, i publish where i could be more respected for my work- facebook and it’s different groups.
*Author Note: Hahaha I hear you brother. I am 37 and although people think it’s ‘pretty cool’ we both know what they are really thinking 😉
I have avoided using slideshows so that you may enjoy these amazing creations in all their full size HD glory. All 60 of them 😉
My Sharon Tarshish’s Custom Hotwheels
This next custom 62 Chevy Tow Truck was what brought Sharon to my attention in the first place. What an incredible build. The detail is extraordinary, almost to the point where this custom looks more 1:1 scale than 1:64.
well, was I right or was I right?
Here are some of the custom made MK1 Golf GTi cars that Sharon was talking about. I am suitably impressed and agree that Hotwheels should make this casting – using the caddy front like Sharon has of course!
Thank you Sharon for sharing your work with us today 🙂
Who will we shine the spotlight on next episode?
Remember to share this post with your customising crew and as always, I encourage you to leave your comments in the thread below – it’s even got Facebook integration so you feel more at home 😉
Hi Sir,
How did you attach the carrier on top of the car?
What material to use to make a carrier?
Appreciate your help.
Thank you.
